In the crowded halls of a comic convention, amidst the neon lights and the plastic armor, it’s easy to get lost in the spectacle. But when Jake Fogg—known to his thousands of followers as FoggyKnight14—steps into the room, the atmosphere shifts. It’s not just the meticulously crafted suit or the towering physique of a man who has played everyone from the Witcher to the God of Thunder. It’s the sense of purpose he carries with him.
For the 36-year-old North Carolina native, the "S" on his chest isn't just a costume choice; it’s a mission statement.
"I’m a model, an actor, and a cosplayer," Jake tells us, though he quickly pivots to the title that seems to mean the most to him: Lead Ambassador. Through his partnership with the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, Jake has bridged the gap between the fantasy of the DC Universe and the reality of community activism.
When you speak to him, you realize that for Jake, the "why" is far more important than the "how." While many enter the world of cosplay for the craft or the clout, Jake’s origin story is rooted in service.
"It’s about giving back to the community," he explains, his focus steady. "Doing charity events and appearances to bring joy and hope... and also to bring awareness and resources for the Reeve Foundation."
The road hasn't always been paved with cheers. In an era of digital scrutiny, even the Man of Steel faces his fair share of kryptonite. Jake is candid about the reality of being a high-profile figure in the community.
"You will always have haters or naysayers," he admits, though he views the friction as a sign of progress. "The more successful you are, the bigger a target you become—but that just means you’re doing something right." His advice for those looking to follow in his footsteps? Tune out the noise. "Stay true to what you’re doing. Believe in yourself and focus on the positive."
While he is most notably recognized as the definitive Superman of the cosplay circuit, Jake’s portfolio reads like a "Who’s Who" of pop culture royalty. From the gritty resolve of Geralt of Rivia to the tactical intensity of Cyclops, his range is his secret weapon. But he doesn't just replicate these characters; he interprets them.
"It’s the unique twist I use to make them my own," he says. It’s that ability to inhabit a character—to truly become them—that has caught the eye of brands like Disney, Marvel, and Box Lunch.
As we look toward the next decade, Jake isn't slowing down. With plans for more international travel, special collaborations, and a deepening focus on his acting career, the FoggyKnight14 brand is only expanding. Yet, despite the global reach, his core message remains surprisingly simple and grounded.
"Don’t worry about following or reach, or looking exactly like a character," Jake insists. "Cosplay who you love, have fun, and do it for you."
As our time with the Man of Steel comes to a close, he leaves us with a final nod to the community that built him: "Appreciate you all." The feeling, it seems, is entirely mutual.
Before he headed back out to save the day, we asked Jake who else in the community is caught in his radar. If you’re looking for more inspiration, Jake recommends keeping an eye on these three powerhouses:
Jared Weismann: A fellow creator making waves on Instagram.
Papermooncosplay: For those who appreciate the fine art of the craft.
Dylanpool: Another standout talent Jake admires in the scene.
